Nitpicker Actuators

Motion symbol used for nitpicker actuators.

Nitpicker Actuators provide independently-controlled combined indexing (unidirectional rotation in fixed steps to hard stops) rotation with linear motion. These actuators also prevent backward rotation and feature no accumulating error. All Rotomation nitpicker actuators feature black-anodized aluminum bodies, stressproof steel rod, ball bearings, and stainless steel hardware.

Common Options: two rod types, two rotation directions, 1 or 2" long stop tube on linear section, bumper on reset stroke, integrated flow control or cushion needle valve, magnetic switches for actuator state (end of reset or end of drive stroke on rotary; fully extended or fully retracted on linear) feedback, high-temperature and/or oil-service seals, mount plates, extended pawl shaft for alternate state feedback (use with flag and proximity sensor), and various port locations.

Standard rotation angles: 12° (30 steps/rev.), 15° (24 steps/rev.), 18° (20 steps/rev.), 22.5° (16 steps/rev.), 30° (12 steps/rev.), 36° (10 steps/rev.), 45° (8 steps/rev.), 60° (6 steps/rev.), 72° (5 steps/rev.), 90° (4 steps/rev.), 120° (3 steps/rev.), 180° (2 steps/rev.), and 360° (1 step/rev.). Combination of angles also possible as long as they add up to 360 degrees total.

Standard rod strokes: from 0.50" to 12.00", in 0.25" increments.

Group PX2 PX22 nitpicker actuators Single & Dual Rack Nitpicker Actuators

Tie rod construction offers maximum configurability and durability, and are fully rebuildable. Single rack actuators are designed for general applications where reliability and durability are important. Dual rack actuators have the additional advantages of double torque and zero lash at the ends of the rotation without increasing the footprint of the actuator

 ROTOMATION NEWS!

See our newest custom actuator case study here.

A customer came to us recently to design and build a new product from the ground up. They needed to build a new bottling machine to handle filling their customer’s unique bottle design with very caustic materials. Once we determined the full requirements, we designed and manufactured a new rotary actuator with an attached gripper unit, all in 316 stainless steel to provide protection from corrosive materials. The new actuator and gripper grips the bottle; rotates it to the desired degrees for filling, then rotates back to release the bottle.
