Stepping Actuators for Unidirectional Rotation

Motion Symbol Used For Stepping Actuators.

Stepping Actuators provide unidirectional rotation in steps, like indexing actuators, but without the hard stops. These actuators also prevent backward rotation. Because they do not have the ratchet and pawl mechanism that is built into our indexing actuators, they will incur accumulating error unless an external indexing mechanism is provided. Use these actuator whenever you need torque to be applied throughout a desired angle without hard stops.

Stepping actuators are ideally suited to applications with low inertia and high friction, such as incremental conveyors or pinch rollers feeding sheet or spooled material. Unlike indexing actuators, steppers can be equipped with rotation adjusters and can even be made with multiple, selectable increments of rotation.

Unlike competitive products with add-on clutch housings, Rotomation stepping actuators have clutches and bearing fully integrated into the unit for solid support of your load. They have the same dimensions as our corresponding rotary actuators. Our stepping actuators feature black-anodized aluminum bodies, precision-ground carbon steel shafts, ball bearings, and stainless steel hardware.

Common Options: Various shafts types, two rotation directions, bumpers, integrated flow controls or cushions, magnetic switches for actuator state feedback, high-temperature and/or oil-service seals, mount plates, and various port locations.

Single Rack Stepping Actuators

Single Rack Stepping Actuators

Tie rod construction offers maximum configurability and durability, and are fully rebuildable. Single rack actuators are designed for general applications where reliability and durability are important.

Dual Rack Stepping Actuators

Dual Rack Stepping Actuators

Dual rack actuators have the same features and benefits of their single rack counterparts, with the additional advantage of double the torque output for any given input pressure, without increasing the footprint of the actuator. Contact us for more information
